The All Progressives Congress, Chairman for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abdulmalik Usman, has expressed confidence that residents are prepared to vote for the party in the upcoming Area Council elections.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Usman said the February 21, 2026, polls will reflect a shift from the sentiment-driven voting witnessed in 2022, as voters now recognize the impact of ongoing development projects led by the APC-led government.

According to Usman, voters are now more focused on performance and governance, insisting that political appeals tied to support for Peter Obi would no longer influence election outcomes in the FCT.

His words, “In the 2022 election there was sentiment attached to the elections, where some people voted against the APC.

“And there was some internal wrangling within the party and as you can see and all know, the woman that was elected as a senator, she’s doing nothing, we don’t have any impact from her. So that issue of using Peter Obi or using any other person to come and cause confusion is gone”

“Now, people are ready to vote for APC because of what Tinubu and the FCT minister are doing,” Usman said.

Usman commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as visible infrastructural progress across the FCT.

He maintained that residents are experiencing tangible improvements in their communities.

“It is not sentiment, it is a fact because even in the whole FCT or where you are staying, we are feeling the impact of Wike everywhere,” he said.

He added that APC officials in the FCT are aligning their efforts with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and urged residents to support the ruling party at the polls.

“So, go and join people who are giving you a project and hope because the devil you know is better than the angel you don’t know.”

“I am here to tell the whole FCT resident that they should come out en masse and vote for APC because APC is working,” he noted.
