The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Monday said so many people wanted him to fail during the just-concluded local government election in the capital city.

Wike said despite their efforts, he was able to make them realize that he is “old in this game”.

The minister spoke while fielding questions during his monthly media chat in Abuja.

Told that it seemed he overshadowed the All Progressives Congress campaign council during the FCT election, Wike said: “No. What do you mean by overshadowing? You were there when the deputy Speaker said with the performance of the Minister they had no problem, that my performance made them win the election.

“With all due respect, I’ll like to thank Governor Abdulrahman and Governor Dapo Abiodun. They were very concerned and gave me the necessary support.

“So many people wanted me to fail, but we had to tell them that we’re old in this game. I also commend Governor Ododo for coordinating Abaji LGA in the election.”
