Fourteen people were on the Jetline rollercoaster when a support arm under one of the carts broke, causing the train to come to a sudden stop and partially derail.
Karin and her husband, Mikael Elmegard, fell from the last car.
Mikael managed to grab onto a beam, but Karin was not so lucky.
She was one of nine people injured in the accident at Gröna Lund theme park in Stockholm, Sweden.
The horrific accident killed one woman in her 30s.
The trial against Gröna Lund and two other companies began last Monday, with CCTV footage of Karin falling shown in court.
She said: “It’s really hard to watch that footage, but what’s even harder is seeing my beloved being lifted down from that beam, sitting there all alone, not knowing where I had gone.
“I remember falling towards the grass, with it rushing up at me at a terrifying speed.
“I don’t think I would have survived if I had fallen onto something harder, like the tracks.”
Eyewitnesses spoke of “chaotic” scenes as cordoned off parts of the park after the accident in which the ride’s wheels came off.
The Jetline rollercoaster had been in operation since 1988 and was modified in 1997 to include a longer, steeper drop.
It reached speeds of nearly 60mph and pulled a maximum 4.5 g-force during its 90 second duration.
A witness named Cecilia told Aftonbladet : “First we heard three, four loud bangs. People started screaming and then people started running.
“At first they thought it was a shooting. Then we saw how the wheels from the cart were on the ground.
“That was probably what sounded so loud. It’s terrible, this kind of thing can’t happen.”
Following the fall, Karin endured a physically painful and mentally exhausting hospital stay.
Despite undergoing surgery, Karin still struggles with simple everyday tasks.
Husband Mikael told local media he was “horrified” to see his wife fall out of the car.
“When I saw her lying on the ground, her face covered in blood, I didn’t know if she had survived.
“It was a terrible impact.”
Prosecutors say Gröna Lund deviated from safety requirements for ride components and are seeking a total corporate fine of 18 million SEK (£1.45m).
All three companies deny wrongdoing, and Gröna Lund is so far refusing to pay compensation to the victims.
Mikael added: “We’re glad this trial is finally underway so we can settle the question of responsibility once and for all.
“We feel it’s important that someone is held accountable.
“This should never be allowed to happen.”
