HINTS something was up bubbled all weekend: Not least when Donald Trump accused the British establishment of trying to “Trump” Nigel Farage.
That is to use every tool in the shed, from lawfare to endless inquiries and smears, all to stop him seizing power.

Fresh from two days in , it was clear the leader was in fighting mode and the new self-declared Mr Angry of British politics has had enough of months of headlines about his personal finances.
Now he’s back on his home turf: campaigning against a closed-rank Establishment on ground of his choosing rather than scrambling to counter a drip drip of increasingly lurid headlines.
One thing is clear though: isn’t going to get the easy summer in No10 he wanted.
Yet after triggering two by-elections of his own – one for his new seat in and one to replace him as – that’s quite enough democracy for our incoming PM thank you very much.
Despite vowing to be the man that can see off Reform, the PM unElect will dodge a chance to take on the man himself in the by-election Farage has thrust on this summer’s airwaves.
With his near messianic ratings in the Essex seat, I suspect it’s a gamble that will pay off, not least as the and will both sit it out, knowing they are unlikely to win.
But does this actually make Farage’s problems go away?
He told me in an interview just a few weeks ago the people of don’t care about any of the allegations he hid millions in donations he should have declared.
Yet that won’t stop the parliamentary sleazebusters from simply resuming their probe when, in all likelihood, Farage returns to the green benches in a few weeks time.
Yes, he will have the backing of the people of , but if this is really a war by the Establishment to stop Farage, he can’t really believe they will simply give up there…
