Family Stumbles Upon Rare Electric Blue Creature on Popular UK Beach – A One in Two Million Find!

THIS is the incredible moment a family found a “one in two million” blue lobster on a UK beach.

Rock-pooler Dave Cook found the rare crustacean with his son Dougie during low tide in Falmouth, Cornwall.

The stunning lobster’s electric-blue shell comes from a genetic abnormality which makes it overproduce a certain protein.

Dave, from Teignmouth, Devon, said: “It was an extreme low tide and we found two of the biggest European lobsters we’ve ever seen.

“They were both huge. It was a very special find. The important thing is we released them both. Lobsters that size are serious breeding stock.

“Taking them home for a meal isn’t worth damaging the local population, so they went straight back in. That’s proper rockpooling – look, learn, leave the big ones to keep the coastline alive.”

In Dave’s video of his discovery, shared on the What’s The Jam website, he remarks on the size of the blue lobster.

He says: “Whoa, we have just found a huge female.

“Look at the size of that. That is just gigantic. She is 130mm to the back of the carpus – that is absolutely huge.”

Dave filmed himself putting the lobster back into the rockpool after measuring its length.

In other videos on his YouTube channel Adventures Days HD, the dad forages other bizarre marine life from rock pools.

He also cooks hand-caught lobster over a beach fire in another clip.

In the video, he says: “This is the best way ever to have seafood.”

Meanwhile another fisherman, Marc Newton, also caught TWO rare blue lobsters in a couple of weeks off Beer, in East Devon, last year.

In a post on social media, he said: “Here he is again. On the left, we caught what looks like the same rare blue lobster as the other day.

“What do you think? Same or a different one?”
