Introduction
The leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has claimed that N150 million is insufficient to purchase his shoes.
Allegations Against Ayodele
Ayodele made these remarks during a service at his church in Lagos on Sunday, in response to accusations of extortion made against him by the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu.
He asserted that the minister is upset because he knows he will fail again in his bid to become the governor of Oyo.
Adelabu had lodged a complaint with the Department of State Services (DSS), accusing the preacher of blackmail and attempting to extort N150 million from him for “spiritual intercession” to assist him in becoming the governor of Oyo State.
Adelabu alleged that Ayodele demanded 1,000 pieces of saxophones/trumpets, with the least expensive, used Nigerian-grade costing a total of N50 million, and the high-quality imported ones from China costing N130 million.
The minister disclosed that his refusal to comply with Ayodele’s demands led the cleric to make false prophecies aimed at tarnishing his reputation and political aspirations.
Ayodele's Response
During the church service, the primate referred to Adelabu as a boy who does not comprehend what he is saying and dismissed the N150 million claims mentioned in the petition, asking, “Can N150 million buy the shoes I wear?”
“I won’t let you down. I can only disappoint you if you are not a good person. I carry something greater than myself.
“I do not deliver prophecies to impress you or to draw you to me. I do not give prophecies for you to come and inquire. Accept it or leave it,” he stated.
