The 38 worshippers who were abducted in Eruku, located in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have safely returned to their families, just days after authorities confirmed their rescue.

The victims were taken on November 18 during a thanksgiving service at CAC Oke Isegun, Eruku, in an attack that resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left one person injured.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening, Dada Sunday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Ekiti LGA Chairman, reported that the rescued individuals were officially handed over to Chairman Awelewa Olawale Gabriel in Ilorin by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

He characterized the handover as the successful conclusion of a coordinated rescue operation that involved both federal and state security agencies.

Chairman Awelewa expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, Governor AbdulRazaq, the National Security Adviser, and all security personnel involved, commending their prompt response.

He also acknowledged the medical assistance provided to the victims and assured residents that security measures across all 10 wards of the LGA would be strengthened.

The freed worshippers returned to Eruku at around 6:30 PM on Tuesday, where they received a warm welcome from their relatives and community members.
