, who competed on for eight years, believes actress Alex Kingston has some past training under her belt.
The actress has already topped the leaderboard, earned full marks on one of her dances, and even received a kiss from .
After her latest dance – the rumba – James thought it was incredibly obvious, as the performance was far too showstopping for a rookie to pull off.
“When you take with Johannes, Alex has clearly had dance training,” James told Daily Mail .
“I can say categorically whatever anyone says she has had dance training.
“As a professional dancer, I know what you can and can’t do as a non dancer.”
Alex is the third in the series, alongside and , to be revealed as a secret “pro”.
The way each of the two stars downplay their former dance training has frustrated fans, with Lewis even once performing on the West End in Billy Elliot.
Though it remains unclear if anyone else on the show has any experience dancing that they haven’t disclosed.
James went on to discuss how those with past dance experience are of course welcome on the show, but they will always hold an advantage.
“So, there’s Amber who has had dance training, Lewis, George, I don’t know, but I assume he has.
“Then you can see the contestants who haven’t had dance training. There are some things that Lewis does, for example that when I was on tour, five of us as professional dancers, me, , Vincent Simone, Ian Waite, Pasha Kovalev, and he was doing things that we couldn’t do in our day.
“Whatever anyone says, there will clearly be a massive advantage over those people who aren’t dance trained.
“The judges often say the public decides and they have 50 per cent of the vote.
“But if you’re top of the leaderboard, it’s almost impossible to drop into the dance off.
“For someone who isn’t dance trained and is towards the bottom of the leaderboard, they need the public support to save them.
‘If a really good dancer ends up in the bottom two, then they will be saved by the judges. So, it does make a massive difference.
“I’m not saying it as a negative or that we shouldn’t have people on that have had dance training.
“I just think if you do go on the show and have had dance training there will be backlash.”
James featured on Strictly between 2006 and 2013 as a professional dancer.
In the year following his exit from the show, he participated in the fourteenth series of .
He left the house finishing in third place.
