Ex-footballer Roger Lukaku is dead

Roger Lukaku, the father of Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku, has died at the age of 58.

Romelu took to social media to share an emotional tribute to his father.

The striker posted a photo of himself as a young boy with Roger, captioning it: “Thank you for teaching me everything I know.

“I’m forever grateful and appreciate you. Life will never be the same.

Protecting and guiding me like no else could. I won’t be the same.

“The pain and tears are flowing big time. But God will give me the strength to get myself back together.

“Merci pour tout Roger Menama Lukaku Vieux Roy (for his friends). Mon Papa.”

Roger Lukaku also played football, arriving in Belgium when he signed for Koninklijke Rupel Boom FC.

He later had spells at KV Oostende, Seraing, Germinal Ekeren and KV Mechelen.
