Starting in May 2026, Montenegro has been identified as one of the most underrated countries globally.

According to US News, the country is frequently forgotten, particularly when compared to other destinations.

Tivat is a coastal city situated in the Bay of Kotor.

If you visit Tivat, there are many different places to discover, including a marina where you can admire numerous luxury yachts.

From the marina, visitors can enjoy views of the stunning mountains that provide a picturesque backdrop.

Near the marina, tourists can also explore the Tivat Submarine, a decommissioned Heroj P-821 submarine that is part of the Maritime Heritage Museum.

Additionally, you can visit the city park, one of the largest city parks on the Montenegrin coast, established in 1892, which hosts a variety of tree species.

Despite Tivat being a more modern city, there are several captivating sites to explore, such as the Buca family’s summer house.

The Buca family was among the most influential and noble families during the late Middle Ages. For over 500 years, they played a significant role in shaping the social and political landscape of the region.

Today, visitors can tour their fortified residence, which includes a Catholic chapel and defense tower, showcasing artifacts related to fishing and farming, jewelry, and traditional costumes.

Of course, Tivat also boasts beautiful beaches, such as Plaza Ponta.

One recent visitor commented: “Fantastic public beach. Rocky with crystal-clear water and a stunning view of the mountains and sunset.”

“No boats or marina in sight, so you can enjoy an unobstructed view.”

There are also several boutiques to explore, as well as dining options like One, which offers Adriatic cuisine such as grilled octopus with creamy polenta for €22 (£19.40) or black risotto with seafood and cuttlefish ink for €15 (£13.23).

It’s also an excellent place for a budget-friendly breakfast, costing just €8 (£7.05).

The restaurant features the country’s most extensive selection of rosé wines.

While exploring the city, if you fancy a drink, you can expect to pay between €2.20 (£1.94) and €3 (£2.65) for a beer.

Alternatively, a coffee will cost you around €1.88 (£1.66).

For accommodation, consider the five-star Regent Porto, which is conveniently located by the marina.

The hotel offers breathtaking views, along with a spa, an infinity pool, and four restaurants and bars.

There are a total of 175 rooms, each designed with an interior inspired by local culture.

Prices start from £136 per night to stay at the Regent.

In the summer months, the average temperature can reach up to 30°C, cooling down slightly from September to October.

The coldest months in Tivat are between November and
