LECH POZNAN’s Europa League qualifier against KI Klaksvik has been DELAYED due to bad weather.

Poznan were set to take on the Faroe Islands side in the second leg of their third-round qualification tie at 6:30pm local time.

But heavy fog delayed the Poles from setting off for their away leg of the tie.

Extreme fog at Vagar Airport scuppered Poznan’s initial journey to the Faroes on Wednesday.

Vagar is the only commercial airport in the Faroes, so flying to another one was not an option.

Poznan were forced to fly into the Faroes today, but the bad fog persisted.

It was so bad that their plane was forced to stay in a holding pattern off the coast of .

Poznan would briefly have to pit stop in Bergen before once again attempting the journey.

And much to their relief, they eventually touched down at Vagar Airport at 3.30pm.

Poznan’s delayed arrival has led the match to be pushed back to 20:45pm.

Poznan boss Niels Frederiksen anticipated a tight turnaround after the team’s Wednesday departure to the Faroes was axed.

He said: ” If we fly Thursday and play that day then we will have to leave quite early, so we still have the possibility to rest.”

Poznan enter the second leg of the third-round qualifier one goal to the good.

A late strike from Ivorian striker Yannick Agnero gave the Poles a narrow victory at the Poznan Stadium.
