Canadian surfer Erin Brooks extended one of the hottest runs on the World Surf League Championship Tour by winning the Trestles Pro at Lower Trestles, California, on 18 September 2026.

Brooks completes a three-event winning streak

The 19-year-old defeated world No. 1 Gabriela Bryan in the women’s final to claim her third consecutive tour victory. Brooks arrived in California after wins in Tahiti and Fiji, transforming the shape of her season after a difficult opening stretch.

Reuters reported that the run is the first three-event winning streak on the Championship Tour since Stephanie Gilmore achieved the feat in 2008.

A comeback season gathers momentum

Brooks had failed to progress beyond the second round in the first six events of her sophomore campaign. Her response has been emphatic: three consecutive victories against elite fields at three very different waves.

At Trestles, she also came through a field that included leading contenders before defeating Bryan in the final with a two-wave total of 13.

Miguel Pupo wins the men’s event

Brazil’s Miguel Pupo claimed the men’s title, narrowly beating Japan’s Kanoa Igarashi. Reuters reported that Pupo posted a 14.77 total, including an 8.5 ride and a 6.27, to secure his second victory of the season.

Why the Trestles win matters

Lower Trestles is one of professional surfing’s most recognised high-performance venues and is scheduled to feature in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic surfing programme. Brooks’ victory adds another major result at a venue with growing significance beyond the Championship Tour.
