Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour has noted that the club are about to make the mistakes of allowing Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli leave the Emirates Stadium.
He pointed out if this happens, the could be undermining all the hard work being done by manager Mikel Arteta to put a solid team together.
The former defender said that this would not be the first time the Gunners have allowed such scenario play out, recalling the case of Robin van Persie and Samir Nasri.
“We’ve seen it happen so many times at Arsenal where people have gone on free transfers,” Parlour told talkSPORT.
“So now you’ve got to highlight who you want to keep, who’s your players going forward.
“I’m sure there’ll be so much interest for Saka. All the big boys will come in and try to sign him,” Parlour added.
“So now sit down with him, get him on a good contract. Martinelli’s in the same boat – they’ve got to try to nail him down as well.”
Both wingers have been in scintillating form for Mikel Arteta’s side this season, helping them stay top of the league table after nine matches.
Saka and Martinelli will hopefully start again for the Gunners as the hope to continue their fine run in the league as they face Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday.
