Liverpool’s new signing, Cody Gakpo, has disclosed that he came close to joining Premier League clubs Manchester United and Leeds United before his move to Anfield.
Gakpo recently joined Liverpool from PSG Eindhoven in a deal worth around £35 million.
Speaking to the Mirror, the Netherlands international said, “It was difficult this summer. It was a very intense period.
“I thought I was going to Manchester United, but in the end, it did not work out. Leeds United came in.
“They’re a good club, but I asked myself if I should really go there and when you’ve a lot of doubts, it is not good.”
