Former Manchester United left-back, Patrice Evra, has disagreed with his former teammate Gary Neville over a controversial VAR decision during Arsenal’s recent Premier League 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
Recall that a controversial goal from Anthony Gordon gave Newcastle the victory over Arsenal.
VAR, after its review, ruled in favour of the goal standing.
VAR and officials concluded there was not irrefutable proof to establish if the ball had entirely crossed the touchline prior to Gordon’s goal.
There was also no clear proof that Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes had been fouled by Joelinton prior to Gordon’s goal.
In an online interaction, Evra expressed his solidarity with Arsenal in response to a comment made by Neville on Sky Sports.
Neville had insisted that VAR correctly upheld Gordon’s decisive goal.
But Evra has now responded to Neville, saying (via Football London): “Bro I love you but Arsenal get robbed in daylight!!! The ball was out simple.”
