Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has claimed Ebere Eze was “upset” with him for not playing as much games recently.

Arteta was speaking to the media after Eze scored twice as the Gunners thrashed Tottenham 4-1 on Sunday evening.

The result sees Arsenal re-establish a five-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Arteta gave a rare start to Eze, who scored early in either half of the match.

“I could see that he wanted to prove something,” Arteta said.

“He was upset, even with me, because I didn’t play him the other day.

“I’m starting to understand how to get the best out of him now.”
