Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, has congratulated Declan Rice after the Arsenal player reached his 300th Premier League appearance in the 4-0 victory against Leeds United.

Arsenal moved further ahead at the top of the Premier League by winning convincingly against Leeds at Elland Road.

Mikel Arteta’s team had not won any league games in their last three matches, but they managed to get their title campaign back on track by beating Leeds, a team that had only lost once in their last 11 games.

The top team in the league took the lead when Martin Zubimendi headed the ball in during the 27th minute, and Leeds’ goalkeeper Karl Darlow accidentally scored an own goal.

Any hope of a surprising Leeds revival was crushed when Viktor Gyokeres scored his fourth goal in his last six matches, and Gabriel Jesus later added Arsenal’s fourth goal.

Arsenal’s big win leaves them seven points ahead of Manchester City until the Cityzens drew 2-2 with Tottenham on Sunday to reduce the margin to six points.

Rice was happy not just because Arsenal beat Elland Road convincingly, but also because it was his 300th time playing in the Premier League.

The England star went on social media to celebrate his after the game and got a reply from Fernandes, who just wrote: ‘Class’ along with a clapping emoji.

More than 200 of Rice’s Premier League games were played at his childhood club, West Ham.

Arsenal spent more than £100 million to bring in the previous captain of West Ham and have seen him become one of the top midfielders in the world.
