EPL: Arsenal in talks to sign Man Utd target for Arteta

Published on May 03, 2025 at 05:34 AM

Arsenal are in talks to sign Manchester United target, Francisco Trincao for their manager, Mikel Arteta.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, the Gunners are one of three Premier League clubs who have begun talks with Sporting CP for the 25-year-old’s signature.

It was reported in April that Man United have made Trincao one of their top attacking targets for the summer transfer window with manager Ruben Amorim having managed the winger at both Braga and Sporting CP, respectively.

The report added that Arsenal have scouted Trincao extensively during his matches for Sporting this season.

Trincao will have two years remaining with his current deal with Sporting at the end of the season.

The Portugal international already has Premier League experience following his season-long loan spell at Wolves during the 2021-22 season.

Trincao joined Sporting on a permanent transfer from Barcelona in 2023.

However, Barcelona included a €25million buyback option in Trincao’s contract which expires next year, and retained 50 per cent sell-on clause as part of their agreement with Sporting.
