But Michelle Agyemang grabbed a last-gasp leveller in the 96th minute, before Chloe Kelly sealed a 2-1 win by rebounding her own penalty deep into extra time.
Kelly’s goal sparked pandemonium both on the pitch and among fans.
After the game, victorious stars continued the celebrations by clambering into the stands to be with loved ones.
Amid the jubilant scenes, goalkeeper was seen carrying a box of pizza.
Midfielder Georgia Stanway could also be seen holding the Italian delicacy.
Fans loved the cheeky choice of post-match meal.

After the game, boss Wiegman said: “I thought at 88 mins, wow, OK, well we have to score a goal or we are going home.
“When the injury time was shown and there were seven minutes left, I thought, that gives us the time we need to create another chance.
“But of course the clock keeps ticking and you are thinking maybe it won’t come.
“But we play to win, we play to get these moments and we are a team that never gives up.”
The Lionesses will face either or in Sunday’s final, with the two heavyweight nations set to meet in this evening’s second semi-final.
