EMMERDALE viewers will be rocked with a devastating storyline as one of the show’s iconic characters will be left for dead.
The long-running soap’s special will see Kim Tate’s life hanging in the balance after a shocking accident involving Sam Dingle leaves her gravely injured.

According to an insider, the drama kicks off as cashflow issues for the Dingle’s continue to spiral.
Money has remained tight for months, with Sam feeling guilt around not being able to provide for the family.
His frustrations boil over as he tells his boss Joe Tate exactly what he thinks of him and eventually quits his job, despite money woes.
“Lydia is absolutely livid,” an insider told Digital Spy . “She doesn’t understand why Sam has done this when they’re so skint.
“And Christmas is around the corner, so how are they supposed to fund the festive season? Fuming with her husband, she orders him to beg Joe for his job back.”
A red-faced Sam goes back to a smug Joe to ask for his job back and, naturally, he refuses after their war of words.
Lydia attempts to make peace and tries to appeal to Joe’s better nature – but her appeals are knocked back, with Kim also stepping in.
Kim’s move takes Lydia by surprise, especially as she was aware of the problems the Dingles faced, and feels like she’s taken Joe’s side.
Frustrated by their actions, Sam offers a way to get one up on the Tates to Lydia, which involves throwing a dodgy shooting party on their Home Farm grounds.
The source continued: “It’s a quick way of making cash, and getting the better of the Tates. But it’s also illegal – and potentially very dangerous.”
Lydia is on board with the plan, and agrees to keep Kim at the village fayre in order to keep her away Home Farm.
It allows hubby Sam to hand rifles out for guests to hunt game on the grounds – while raking in cash from the hush-hush event.
Sam worries that Vanessa Woodfield has spotted what he’s up to, but continues with the quick cash grab regardless.
It leads to a fuming Vanessa collaring Kim and confiding what she witnessed at Home Farm.
Concerned her land is being used for something dodgy, Kim decides to head up to the big house to investigate, and that’s where things get dark.

According to insiders, the iconic character arrives at the grounds, but the next time she’s seen by viewers, she’s “lying on the ground, seriously wounded”.
They continued: “It appears she may have been caught in the crossfire of some stray bullets, as she’s hurt her leg and can’t get up.
“There’s nobody around, and Kim is praying she’s found soon. But there’s no sign of any help…”
Kim’s fate will remain unclear to viewers – will she be left to die in the blisteringly cold woodland, or will help arrive on time?
The drama is set to unfold for viewers in just under two weeks, with the scenes airing December 11.
