Viewers can usually catch up with the latest village gossip every weeknight from 8pm to 8.30pm on ITV1, but this week will see a break in that routine.

Why is Emmerdale not on as normal this week?

Emmerdale frequently sees its slot shifted to make way for live sporting tournaments or events.

The soap is being bumped from its slot on the evening of Thursday, October 22.

Instead of the usual half-hour of Dales drama, the channel will air from 8pm to 10.05pm.

The ceremony honours the achievements and bravery of everyday unsung heroes, and Emmerdale has been moved to allow the two-hour event to air.

Will Emmerdale be on on Sunday?

ITV bosses have ensured fans won’t be short-changed.

To make up for the cancelled Thursday night trip to the village, a weekend episode has been scheduled.

Emmerdale will air a “catch-up” episode on Sunday, October 25 at 8pm.

It means viewers will still get their full serving of episodes, just spread out slightly differently across the week.
