Emma Raducanu storms into Wimbledon third round with impressive demolition of 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova

EMMA RADUCANU faces the toughest test in tennis right now as she booked a third-round clash with Aryna Sabalenka.

A 6-3 6-3 victory over Marketa Vondrousova, a former champion, was one of her best wins over four years of competing in SW19.

And it means she will now face the world No1 and three-time Grand Slam champion from Belarus in the Last 32 on Friday.

, 22, has won only three times in 15 meetings with top-10 players.

But she has never taken a set off someone ranked in the top-three spots on the WTA World rankings.

However, the British fans can dream and pray for an upset because of the manner in which Raducanu managed to progress.

At times, she bullied Vondrousova into retreat and hit several double backhand winners.

The Czech ace – who lost to Raducanu in the second round in 2021 – is nowhere near the same player that was lifting the Venus Rosewater Dish two years ago.

If she can maintain that high level then who knows, she might give Salabenka a decent, competitive contest.

Someone even shouted out “that’s the old Emma Raducanu”; and there were glimpses of the standard that she set when she won the US Open four years ago.
