Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) assigned to the state to show patriotism and dedication as they embark on their national service.
The governor made this request on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2025 Batch C Stream I orientation course, which took place at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Sibre, Ardo-Kola Local Government Council.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Gebon Timothy Kataps, the governor praised the NYSC for its enduring contribution to fostering national unity and instilling discipline among Nigerian youth.
He encouraged the new corps members to engage actively in all camp activities, emphasizing that such participation would better equip them for the challenges and responsibilities that lie ahead during their service year.
“We view Youth Corps members and the NYSC scheme as vital development partners, endowed with the energy, training, talent, and skills necessary to drive the state and the nation toward a better society,” he remarked.
He further stated that the orientation course is designed to prepare participants both physically and mentally for effective service and encouraged corps members to take full advantage of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to improve their employability and self-sufficiency.
Earlier in his address, the Taraba State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Ella Aji Williams, commended Governor Kefas for what he termed unprecedented support for the scheme within the state.
He noted that the administration’s ongoing interventions and collaboration have greatly assisted the NYSC in fulfilling its mission in Taraba.
“As we gather to formally welcome you into the National Youth Service Corps, it is my privilege to express our deep gratitude to the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, for his steadfast support of the NYSC family,” he stated.
