The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed that it will on Friday, August 15, arraign the suspects arrested at a hotel within the former President Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, OOPL, for alleged internet fraud.
DAILY POST recalls that EFCC operatives on Sunday raided the premises of the OOPL and arrested 93 suspects for alleged involvement in internet fraud.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in a statement issued on Thursday, said that out of the 93 suspects, 23 would be arraigned before Justice D. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Oyewale, who revealed that other suspects would be arraigned in batches, said that upon profiling, almost all of them were indicted for alleged offences bordering on impersonation, identity fraud, and internet fraud.
He said they were arrested at a pool party in a hotel within the OOPL premises, where they were believed to be using the event as cover for their crimes, stressing that the former president’s facility was not the target, but the suspects.
Oyewale said the suspects had already confessed to their involvement in internet fraud, adding that other batches would be arraigned in the near future.
