Kenny Okolugbo, Media Aide to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has rejected the claim that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has any ongoing case against his principal.
Okolugbo provided this clarification on Saturday during an interview on Arise Television.
DAILY POST recalls that Adetokunbo Pearse, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had alleged that Akpabio has criminal cases pending with the EFCC.
Responding to these claims, the Senate President’s aide stated, “Pearse has been quite irresponsible with his remarks regarding Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
“His assertions that Akpabio is a criminal, has pending cases with the EFCC, and poses a threat to women in the Senate are entirely unfounded.
“We have sent a letter to Adetokunbo Pearse, giving him three days to retract his statements and issue a public apology on national television and in the daily press.
“Should he fail to comply within three days, we will pursue further actions to ensure that individuals stop using the Senate President as a target for baseless attacks,” he said.
