The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested an Abuja based house agent, Hajia Adama Ahmed Adamu, over an alleged N288 million property fraud.

The development was disclosed by the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the EFCC following a petition filed by a complainant who accused the suspect of fraudulent dealings.

According to the Commission, the suspect allegedly collected the sum from one Alhaji Tanko Yawale under the pretext of facilitating the purchase of a property located at House 31 Haile Selassie Street, Asokoro Abuja.

According to the statement, findings showed that after receiving the payment, the agent failed to provide valid ownership documents for the property, raising concerns over the legitimacy of the transaction.

β€œHajia Adamu allegedly failed to provide the complainant with valid documents for the property and subsequently became evasive, raising suspicion and prompting a formal petition to the EFCC,” the statement read.

Following the petition, operatives of the Commission tracked and arrested the suspect in connection with the alleged fraud.
