The ‘s legend, returning to Albert Square is none other than Jake Moon.

Jack and Chrissie left Walford together but she later returned on Christmas Day to reveal herself as Zoe Slater’s secret tormentor.

Digging into the mystery Jake becomes horrified to learn Zoe believes Chrissie is the one that set her up.

Avid EastEnders viewers will already know Anthony was murdered by his and Zoe’s estranged daughter Jasmine Fisher.

Joel, who plays Jake, said: “Jake understands better than most how extreme circumstances, which he has found himself in, can push people to do unimaginable things.

“Jake lives with the knowledge that he killed his own brother and that makes him very wary of judging Chrissie, even if that doubt does start to creep in.”

Joel claimed his character doesn’t want to believe Chrissie killed Anthony.

Him accepting Chrissie might be a bad person would leave him “questioning everything he has sacrificed in his life,” said Joel.

Joel added: “He [Jake] believes she is a good person; he has loved her and waited for almost 20 years. In many ways, he has been doing his own sentence waiting for her to get out [of prison].”

Fans will soon see Jake set a trap for Chrissie, as he attempts to lure her back to Walford.

EastEnders continues tonight at 7:30pm on One.
