EASTENDERS actress Jessie Wallace’s big night out at the National Television Awards ended in tears.
Despite picking up the Serial Drama award, Jessie was led out of the after-party crying by her co-star .


, had been seen in high spirits during Wednesday night’s ceremony at London’s O2 Arena.
She was later spotted at the official after-party with her colleagues, including Scott and former co-star .
An onlooker said: “Jessie was the life and the soul of the party and was on a high after they’d picked up their big award.
“She was seen chatting with Charles and a few other people and was having a real laugh.
“But then suddenly out of nowhere she just burst into tears in front of everyone.
“Scott was like a superhero and just scooped her out and took her out of the party.
“No one could work out why Jessie was in tears. People just looked a bit baffled.”
Jessie has played Kat Slater in the soap on and off for 25 years.
Speaking earlier this year she hit out at the “snobbery surrounding soaps”.
She said: “I don’t understand it.
“You get huge film actors coming in and they don’t realise how hard it is to produce what we do.
“I remember presenting at the British Soap Awards and saying ‘a successful actor is a working actor’.
“Soaps are a fabulous thing to be a part of.”
Earlier in the evening Jessie had been joined by , who plays her , to present Steve McFadden with the .
It was the first time , who has played Phil Mitchell in EastEnders since 1990, had received a National Television Award.
Jessie and Steve, who are close pals, hugged on stage as he collected his award from them.
