A DRIVER has been jailed for killing a woman in a 140mph horror crash on Christmas Day.
Evan Forde was fleeing in his Mercedes when smashed into the back of Maria Carolina Do Nascimento’s BMW.

The 22-year-old tragically could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene in Brent Cross, North .
Forde, 32, wept as he was today jailed for 12 years after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.
Sentencing, Judge Philip Katz KC said: “He did absolutely nothing to assist the police. He did absolutely nothing to bring closure or understanding to the family.”
The Old Bailey heard the horror unfolded in the early hours of Christmas Day as Forde drove on a 40mph road.
At the time, he had 10 previous convictions for 14 offences including dangerous driving and that at the time of the collision.
Forde was also on bail having been charged with failing to provide a specimen.
Police in a marked vehicle indicated for him to stop but the driver instead sped away.
Body-worn footage showed a police officer who had stopped the Mercedes with his hand on the door handle being dragged around six to eight feet along the road as the vehicle sped off.
Although officers did not give chase, Forde reached speeds of more than 140mph before crashing into Maria.
Forde again fled the scene along with several passengers as Maria lay dying.
CCTV and video from Forde’s phone showed he had been at a nightclub in Camden in the hours before the crash.
Maria meanwhile had enjoyed a Christmas celebration with her family at a restaurant owned by her stepdad.
In a victim impact statement Maria’s mum Clezi Felizari described her daughter as someone with a “generous heart” who “touched everyone around her”.
She added: “On Christmas morning, I received the worst news a mother can ever hear – my daughter had lost her life in a crash caused by recklessness.
“From that moment my life stopped.”
Ms Felizari added: “Riding in a car has become a torment because I relive the way Maria died.”
As well as a jail sentence, Forde was handed an 18-year driving ban.
Previously the made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which is routine in such circumstances.
