The personnel of the Nigerian Army have been urged not forgot officers and soldiers who are actively involved in various theatres of operations in the country.

The Commandant of the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport (NASST), Major General Adebayo Adegbite made the call on Friday at the 2025 West African Social Activities (WASA) of the School in Benin City.

Adegbite also urged Soldiers to allow the gallantry of those actively involved in various theatres of operations to continue to be their source of inspiration.

The Commandant of NASST located in Benin City, Edo State also urged the personnel to celebrate and appreciate the officers for their sacrifices to the nation.

He further urged them to continuously pray for the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price for peace and unity in Nigeria.

According to him, “as we celebrate, I urge us not to forget our officers and soldiers who are actively involved in various theatres of operations.

“We collectively want to use this opportunity to celebrate them and most importantly appreciate their sacrifices to the nation. Their continuous acts of gallantry will continue to be our source of inspiration.

“We also pray for the repose of the souls of our fallen heroes who paid the supreme price for peace and unity in Nigeria. May their souls rest in peace and may God give their families the fortitude to bear the loss’, he said.

Adegbite, however, appealed to the officers and men of the school to brace up for the challenges ahead and ensure that the year 2026 training activities are fully implemented.

He noted that the culture of celebrating WASA is an age-long practice which dates back to the colonial era.

He said WASA provided a social platform which took officers and soldiers away from their routine regimental life to unwind at the end of each year.

He said the celebration provided officers and men of the Nigerian Army an avenue for social interaction with their families, friends and well-wishers.

While congratulating all the officers and men of the School for a successful Year 2025, he urged them to consolidate on the gains in the days and months ahead by creating an enabling environment for better performance in the tasks that lie ahead.

He further enjoined them to continue to exhibit the same level of professionalism they displayed so far in 2025.

“Let me quickly add that we expect to see an array of our rich cultural heritage on display today.

“We are very proud of our culture and indeed this WASA presents yet another opportunity for us to appreciate our cultural diversity, which is the bedrock of our unity.

“This event is a testimony of barracks being the melting pot of different cultures and social backgrounds”, he added.
