The founder of TAF Africa, Jake Epelle, has characterized the current political landscape in Rivers State as shameful.

Epelle made this remark on Tuesday during an interview on The Morning Brief, a program on Channels Television that was monitored by DAILY POST.

DAILY POST recalls that last week, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, along with 15 other lawmakers, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In addition, just three months after peace was established between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and his political protégé, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, political figures in Rivers State are preparing for yet another conflict.

In response, Epelle stated: “For lack of a better term, this is shameful. This is political maneuvering. This is a complete distortion of democracy. Moreover, we are witnessing the signs of a crisis emerging once again.

“They have disregarded the Supreme Court ruling that states they did not defect, and sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can conceal the truth, but you cannot hide it forever.

“The kind of dirty politics being played out by these individuals is evident, and unfortunately, it is the ordinary citizens who will bear the brunt of it. We are observing another wave of trouble beginning to surface, and I believe the President must intervene now, as there will be no other state of emergency. We have endured far too much of this chaos, and it cannot continue this way.”
