A former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has called on Nigerians to reflect on the sacrifices made for the nation’s democracy and to renew their commitment to justice, unity, and good governance.
In a Democracy Day message released by his media aide, Mohammed Bello Doka, Malami described June 12 as a solemn reminder of the nation’s struggle for liberty and democratic governance. He said the day honours the courage of those who paid the ultimate price in the fight for freedom.
“Democracy is not merely a system of government, it is a reflection of the people’s will, a symbol of hope, and a call to duty,”; the message read.
Malami noted that the future of Nigeria depends on strong institutions, national unity, and the continued protection of democratic ideals.
He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and focused on building a nation grounded in the rule of law and equal justice for all.
“As we commemorate this day, may we remember that the future of Nigeria lies not in our differences, but in our shared commitment to peace, equity, and good governance,”; he added.
