A BRUTE who beat his older brother to death was caught out because of his distinctive trainers.

Daniel Lynch, then 38, launched a “sustained and frenzied” attack with a hammer-like weapon at their mother’s house.

He left Shane Lynch, 39, in a pool of blood in the kitchen — but tried to make out he was still alive by leaving in his brother’s dark coat.

Lynch told police he had been asleep on a sofa, wearing headphones, when a mystery intruder struck last November.

But CCTV in Illogan, Cornwall , showed Daniel coming and going in the middle of the night while wearing his Nike trainers with white flashes, which glowed on the film.

Lynch denied being the shadowy figure leaving the house and returning to the murder scene before the alarm was raised.

He agreed it had been a ‘brutal attack’ on his brother but told the jury: “I did not kill my brother. I was really close to my brother.”

Truro crown court heard Lynch, now 39, was a drug user and heavy drinker.

A jury also heard evidence over two weeks and found Lynch guilty of murder yesterday.

Lynch will be sentenced to life imprisonment.
