Aliko Dangote has criticized the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Farouk Ahmed, claiming he is living beyond his financial means.
He suggested that there should be an investigation into Ahmed as their dispute intensifies.
Speaking to the press on Sunday, Dangote revealed that Ahmed is reportedly spending $5 million annually on his children's education at a school in Switzerland.
Dangote stated that even with his vast wealth, he would not be able to spend such an amount without facing scrutiny.
“Mallan Farouk has four children whom he has sent to Switzerland for their secondary education, costing $5 million, and this does not even include university expenses,” he remarked.
“When you consider his income, it does not align with the ability to afford such fees.”
“Even if I were to pay $5 million for six years for my four children, the tax authorities would need to review my taxes and earnings.”
“In Sokoto, his home region, many families are struggling to pay N100,000 for school fees. Numerous children are unable to attend school because they cannot afford that amount,” he added.
As of now, Ahmed has not issued a statement or responded to the allegations made by Africa's wealthiest individual.
