Notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, has claimed that two former northern governors are exacerbating insecurity in the country, particularly in the North.

Turji made this assertion in a viral video that emerged on Sunday, accusing previous political leaders in Zamfara and Sokoto states of establishing the groundwork for the region’s persistent insecurity.

The bandit leader stated that he has engaged in several peace meetings with the Zamfara State government during the tenure of a former governor.

However, he refuted claims that he received N30 million or any other form of inducement to take part in the discussions.

At the time of this report, attempts to obtain responses from both former governors were unsuccessful.

According to Vanguard, multiple sources close to the former governors asserted that the remarks of a terrorist should not be taken seriously or believed.

“Why would anyone prioritize the statements of a terrorist? Isn’t it evident that the terrorist is merely trying to portray himself as a victim? It’s all fabricated,” one of the sources remarked.

Turji further alleged that previous administrations armed vigilante groups, commonly referred to as ‘Yan Banga,’ which he claimed disproportionately targeted Fulani communities and intensified violence.

He specifically named the former governors of Sokoto State and Zamfara State, calling for their arrest and investigation regarding what he described as their involvement in the crisis.

“We openly declare that the former governors of Zamfara and Sokoto states are accountable for the disasters that have struck these states,” Turji asserted.
