Dangote Group has refuted claims that it owns the truck that tragically struck and killed a pregnant woman, a child, and six others in an accident in Akungba-Akoko, located in the Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The company provided this clarification through a statement on its X account on Wednesday.

The statement came in response to reports indicating that a cement-laden truck experienced brake failure and collided with traders and other individuals using the road.

In its response, Dangote Group emphasized that the truck involved in this unfortunate incident does not belong to the group or any of its subsidiaries.

Furthermore, it stated that vehicle registration records affirm the truck is owned and operated by an independent logistics company that has no connection to Dangote Group.

“Dangote Group has denied reports circulating on social media and various online platforms that associate it with a truck involved in a road accident in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

“The company wants to clarify that the truck involved in this tragic event does not belong to Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries.

“Verified vehicle registration information shows that the truck with Plate No. JJJ 365 XB is owned and operated by an independent logistics company with no ties to Dangote Group,” the statement concludes.
