CYCLING star Cristian Camilo Munoz tragically died at the age of 30 from an infection that occurred after a recent knee injury.
According to Cycling News , Munoz passed away in Spain this morning, just six days after suffering a crash at the Tour de Jura in France.

Following the fall, the Colombian travelled with his Nu Colombia team to Oviedo where his team-mates competed at the Vuelta Asturias.
But on Tuesday, the cyclist was admitted to hospital in Valladolid where doctors diagnosed the infection.
Munoz’s condition worsened overnight and he sadly passed away three days later.
Nu Colombia announced: “The Nu Colombia cycling team is deeply saddened to announce the death of its rider, Cristian Camilo Munoz, which occurred in the last few hours in Europe as a result of medical complications arising from the accident he suffered last Saturday during the Tour du Jura in .
“Following the crash, Cristian was initially treated at a medical centre, where he received treatment for an injury to his left knee.
“Once the team arrived in Oviedo, , Cristian was examined again at a clinic, where medical staff detected a difficult-to-treat infection that required further specialist care.
“In the last few hours, his condition deteriorated and, despite all the efforts of the medical team, Cristian passed away on Friday morning.”
Nu Colombia released a separate message on social media paying tribute to Munoz’s life and career.
It read: “Today we bid farewell to Cristian Munoz, a cyclist who turned every kilometre into a show of passion, discipline and heart.
“His story doesn’t stay here and reminds us that dreams are pedalled every day, even when the road heads uphill.
“We are left with his example, the goals he achieved, and the inspiration he instilled in everyone who saw him race.
“To his family, friends and all those who admired him from near or far, we send you all our deepest condolences and strength at this time.”
Muñoz had been a pro racer since 2017 and competed alongside several other notable names at Nu Colombia, such as former riders Sergio and Sebastian Henao as well as ex-QuickStep cyclist Rodrigo Contreras.
enthusiasts were left absolutely heartbroken as they took to social media to pay tribute to the athlete and his family.
One fan tweeted: “Rest in peace.”
Another commented: “Sad news.”
A third wrote: “Unbelievable.”
This fan said: “We will always remember him with his smile and his good attitude! Much strength to his family and the whole Nu team!”
That one added: “What shocking news!”
And a comment read: “Infinite sadness!”
