THIS is the shocking moment a customer smashes a Jaguar into the infamous viral corner shop where a nan was left dangling from a shutter.
Dramatic CCTV footage shows the car ploughing across the pavement and into a Best One shop in Tonteg, South , on Friday.
The narrowly misses “screaming” shoppers as it drives over a concrete bollard and smashes through the glass doors.
It’s the same shop where cleaner Anne Hughes was left danging 7ft in the air after she got caught in the shop’s electric shutters.
Horrified shop owner Amir Akram, 55, said he had popped in for a loaf of bread and thought his business was being ram raided by criminals.
But he explains that when he got closer to the crashed vehicle he recognised the driver as a customer who lived near him.
The 55-year-old said the man and a woman believed to be his partner managed to clamber from the vehicle to apologise and explain his foot slipped onto the accelerator.
He claims the fire service arrived to cut the vehicle from the shop and the couple told him they’d escaped serious injury after getting checked at hospital.
Amir, from Tonteg, South Wales, said: “I’d just popped in to get a loaf of bread. I thought it was a ram raid.
“It was a shock honestly but then I thought ‘no, no one goes ram raid this time of day’.
“When I started walking towards the car I knew that the guy was someone who lived nearby.
“He said he’s sorry and he didn’t know what happened but then he just said his foot just slipped on the accelerator.
“He came to get something from the shop but he went over the path and into the shop.
“There were about half a dozen people in the shop, including my staff, and they just started screaming because you don’t expect it in a little village like this.
“It’s lucky there were no kids in because normally it’s a Friday and there’s a lot of kids standing around.
“It’s like things just happen in this shop.”
Amir said the shop front has been destroyed but his shutters have been temporarily fixed so he can keep the business running.
The shop owner added that a graffiti artist friend sprayed an image of the car ramming through the store onto its shutters to commemorate the incident.
It’s next to the mural of Anne Hughes, who sadly passed away in late 2025 after a battle with cancer.
The clip was posted to socials as one user commented: “This gives a whole new meaning to drive-thru.”
Another said: “You can’t park there, mate.
A third joked: “Is it buy one get one free on Fridays?”
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
