Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has expressed concern that critics are making coordinated efforts to distract his administration and hinder the progress of the state.
According to DAILY POST, Governor Okpebholo voiced this concern while addressing attendees at an interdenominational prayer service held at his residence in Irrua, located in the Esan Central Local Government Area of the State.
Okpebholo also sought spiritual guidance for the success of his administration.
He emphasized that ongoing prayers are essential for fulfilling the government’s electoral promises.
The governor urged Nigerians to keep President Bola Tinubu and his administration in their prayers, assuring that the government is working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property nationwide.
He stated that consistent prayers and effective collaboration with security forces have led to improvements in the security situation in Edo State, highlighting a significant decrease in incidents of kidnapping, cultism, and other criminal activities.
“I want to assure you that our administration, along with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is doing everything possible to guarantee the safety of lives and property for all Nigerians, while working to make Edo State safer,” he said.
“The cultism and cult-related activities we witnessed in the past will no longer be present. I ask for your prayers for President Tinubu. He truly needs our support during this time, as he is making significant efforts for Nigeria despite facing numerous criticisms against his government.”
“The President is enacting comprehensive policies and economic reforms that will advance the nation,” he added.
He further mentioned that his administration is implementing targeted strategies to ensure ongoing development and progress in Edo State.
Okpebholo believed that despite his government’s commitment to advancing the state, some individuals are attempting to divert attention from his administration and lead the state towards stagnation.
However, he appealed for prayers from citizens, encouraging them to ask God to thwart the adversaries of the state.
“We need prayers for our land because without them, development will be challenging. Businesses will struggle, and economic activities will decline,” he asserted.
During the sermon, Reverend Francis Okhale urged the congregation to always express gratitude to God Almighty, emphasizing that thankfulness paves the way for the realization of hopes and expectations.
In his sermon titled ‘Crossing Over with Gratitude’, Okhale encouraged the community to continue praying for Governor Okpebholo, who he noted had gathered everyone to thank God for the achievements of his administration over the past year.
“We are here to honor God Almighty for what He is accomplishing through Senator Monday Okpebholo for the people of Edo. We can see the positive impact of his administration, particularly in infrastructural development, including flyovers, schools, hospitals, and other vital projects,” he stated.
