A spokesperson for National Highways stated: “The M66 is closed southbound between Junction 3 and the M60/M62 Junction 18 at Simister Island. The northbound lane is also closed within the M60/M62 Junction 18.”
“We are collaborating with Greater Manchester Police to address the collision.”
An update from Intrix noted: “All traffic is being temporarily halted, and there is stationary traffic due to an accident on the M66 in both directions from Junction 3 Pilsworth Road (Hollins) to Junction 4 M60 Junction 18 (Simister Island).”
