Counter-terror cops say probe into Kneecap was over rappers calling for ‘MPs to be killed’ in video clip

COUNTER-terror police yesterday said they were investigating after rappers Kneecap apparently called for MPs to be killed.

A video clip from a gig in 2023 featured one of the band saying: “The only good is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP.”;

Another video showed the Belfast trio offering support for terror groups by shouting “Up , Up ”; at a London gig last November.

The Met said: “Both videos were referred to the Counter Internet Referral Unit for assessment by specialist officers, who have determined there are grounds for further investigation into potential offences linked to both videos.

“The investigation is now being carried out by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command and inquiries remain ongoing at this time.”;

Several Kneecap gigs this week

They apologised to the families of murdered MPs and , but said their remarks had been “weaponised and exploited”;.

Katie Amess, whose Southend West Tory MP dad added: “Kneecap’s rhetoric is not only abhorrent but poses a direct threat to the safety and well-being of elected officials and the democratic institutions they represent.

“The glorification and incitement of violence have no place in our society and must be unequivocally condemned.

“I commend the swift action taken by law enforcement agencies in addressing this and urge a thorough investigation to determine the full extent of any criminal activity.”;

Yesterday Paul Weller, Pulp and The Pogues issued support for them.
