Throughout her career, she has been candid about her struggles with weight in her younger years, and in a recent interview, she recounted a painful comment she received during an audition.
She recalled: “I remember attending an audition and the director told me, ‘Kath, you’re hilarious – you’ll always be the fat funny one. You’re a character actress.’
“I loved comedy, but I also aspired to be a leading lady. That remark has stayed with me.”
Always professional, Catherine chose not to disclose the director's identity, but it's a memory that has never faded for her.
Now a mother of two, the actress acknowledged that her perspective on weight loss has evolved, with her current focus on maintaining health.
In a conversation with Dr. Jonquille Chantrey on the AgeLess podcast, she stated: “It’s no longer about losing weight for me; it’s about health.
“I want to be here for as long as possible for my children. I seek stamina and strength.”
During her recent cover shoot for The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, Catherine discussed the pressure she once placed on herself regarding her weight.
At 18, she weighed nearly 15 stone and wore a size 22, leading her to spend years striving for a different body image.
She shared: “In my younger years, I felt immense pressure to conform to a certain appearance, as many actresses do, and I would resort to crash dieting.
“Now, being older and wiser, I understand what my body requires and I respect it far more than I did back then.
“I’m at a stage in my life where I train hard, eat well, indulge occasionally, and work diligently – this is where I belong,” she expressed.
“I refuse to force my body into a different shape. I won’t live on diets because that only makes me unhappy.”
