A MANHUNT is under way after a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted on a train.

A woman, who was travelling from Bank Quay to Oxford Road via , was allegedly .

The incident happened at around 1pm on April 23.

The woman was standing in the enclosed area between the seats and the doors when a man reportedly assaulted her.

Police are investigating the incident and have urged members of the public with any information to contact them immediately.

Cops wish to speak to a man pictured in as they believe he could aid their investigation.

The man has a shaved head and is pictured wearing a black tank top and grey shorts.

A police spokesperson said: “Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a train from Warrington Bank Quay to Manchester Oxford Road have released this image in connection.

“At around 1pm on Thursday 23 April, a woman was sexually assaulted by a man as she stood in the vestibule area of the train.

“Detectives believe the man in the image may have information which could help their investigation.”

British Transport Police have said that if anyone recognises him they should contact police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 328 of 23 April.

Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
