Club World Cup: Chelsea to wear gold badge for four years after PSG win

Chelsea will now wear a special gold badge for the next four years after hammering Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 to win the Club World Cup on Sunday.

Cole Palmer scored a brilliant brace within the opening 30 minutes to set the Blues on their way.

Palmer then set up Joao Pedro to dink a sublime finish over Gianlugi Donnarumma.

Apart from the £100m in prize money and the newly-designed trophy, Chelsea will also get an unprecedented badge of honour.

Before this year, the club that won the title, got to wear the gold badge for just a year.

However, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has since rebranded the competition and it will be played every four years.

The Premier League had barred Liverpool from wearing the same badge regularly, after they won the competition in December 2019. The Reds were allowed the honour for just one game.

But Chelsea will not suffer the same fate, as that stance has since changed.
