Club World Cup 2025: Joao Pedro scores twice as Chelsea qualify for final

Chelsea’s new signing, Joao Pedro, scored a stunning brace as they defeated Fluminense 2-0 in the first semi-final of the Club World Cup on Tuesday night.

Blues boss, Enzo Maresca, gave Pedro his first start for the club following his arrivals from Brighton this summer.

The Brazilian repaid Maresca’s faith a goal in each half against his boyhood club.

Fluminense thought they had the chance to pull one back. But after the referee has awarded a penalty against Trevor Chalobah, he was advised to consult the VAR pitchside monitor, where he eventually overturned the decision.

Chelsea will now take on either Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid in the final of this year’s Club World Cup.

The Premier League team will be looking to add to the UEFA Europa League trophy they won only last month.
