The character's final scenes depicted her leaving Albert Square alongside her cousin Felix (Matthew James Morrison).
In an interview with The Sun, on behalf of Casino.org , she shared her thoughts on what kind of role she would like to take on in a rival soap.
She stated: “I would definitely like to portray someone different from Bernie.
“Perhaps a glamorous character or maybe someone with a rock or emo vibe.
“But yes, something entirely different would be fantastic.
When asked if she would consider joining another soap, the actress replied: “Never say never!
“I love soap operas, and now that I have several years of experience, I truly appreciate how everything operates.
“Some people enter soap and struggle with it… they find the pace too fast or the constant need to adapt to new lines overwhelming.
“But for me, that’s what I enjoy about it. It’s the best way to work, in my opinion. I would definitely love to do soap again.
“For me, it’s less about which soap it is and more about the character… who they are, what they stand for, and the storylines they would have.
“That matters more than the name, because honestly, all the soaps are wonderful. There’s no way I could choose just one!”
The Sun revealed that Clair's role as Bernie ended following the departures of her closest family members.
A source commented at the time: “Whenever a soap gets a new boss, they want to implement their own changes – it’s nothing personal.
“The writing has been on the wall for Bernie for some time, so it wasn’t really a surprise to Clair.
“She was the last Taylor left, and it’s time to close the chapter on them and allow Clair to pursue other opportunities.”
Another insider remarked: “Everyone at the show loves Clair, but often characters need to leave for new stories to unfold; that’s the nature of soap.
“Clair will be missed, but she will always be a part of the EastEnders family.”
An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed the news, stating: “We can confirm that Clair will be leaving EastEnders later this year, and we wish her all the best for her future.”
Bernie’s mother, Karen, departed in December 2023, while her half-brother, Keegan, left Walford in 2022.
Her other half-brother, Keanu, was part of The Six storyline.
