Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghalu, has revealed that the Boko terrorist group is displacing communities across Nigeria.
Moghalu also pointed out that Muslims are among those being targeted and killed by this terrorist organization.
He emphasized that the notion of a Christian genocide in Nigeria does not accurately represent the situation on the ground.
In a post on X, he stated: “The narrative of 'Christian genocide' in Nigeria refers to a more complex reality. I am Nigerian and understand the true conditions in my country. I also have access to high-level policy-making circles in various capitals worldwide.
“The stark truth is that Boko Haram is a terrorist group driven by extreme religious motivations. Its victims include Muslims who do not subscribe to their radical interpretations of Islam, as well as Christians.
“In the Middle Belt, the majority of those killed are Christians. The claims of a struggle for resources such as land and water do not hold when entire communities are being slaughtered and forced from their ancestral homes.
“There is no justification for this violence, not even a perceived need for grazing lands. The right to life and other fundamental rights are being violated by both Boko Haram and extremist herdsmen.”
He urged the Nigerian government to take action to safeguard the lives of its citizens.
Moghalu called on the Nigerian government to engage with foreign nations concerned about the alleged Christian genocide occurring in the country.
He concluded: “This underscores the obligation of @NigeriaGov to protect its citizens and territory. No excuses. With a security strategy that demonstrates effectiveness, Nigeria should then communicate with influential foreign nations showing interest in this issue.”
