The American reality star, 45, as she announced her split from Australian musician G Flip, admitting she felt like “a little bit of a failure” and revealing she was still struggling to come to terms with what had happened.

But behind the emotional video lies an even more painful reality for Chrishell.

A source close to the situation said: “Chrishell was completely blindsided by the break-up. She genuinely believed G was the person she would spend the rest of her life with and the person she would have children with, so this has absolutely devastated her.

“She saw them as her forever person and felt this was her last chance to have the life she had always wanted, and now she’s having to come to terms with the fact that the future she imagined has suddenly disappeared.

“She feels completely helpless because this wasn’t what she wanted.”

For anyone who has followed Chrishell’s journey, the news feels particularly cruel.

She has spent years rebuilding her life in the public eye, from the collapse of her first marriage to finding love in the most unexpected of places.

And after finally settling down with G, it seemed the former soap actress had found the stability she had long craved.

But our source says the relationship had become increasingly difficult, with the pressures of G’s growing career and their emotionally gruelling journey taking their toll.

“Chrishell supported G throughout their relationship and was incredibly proud of them as their career grew and they reached a much bigger international stage,” the source says.

“She wanted them to succeed and was there for them along the way.

“But from Chrishell’s perspective, things began to change as G became more successful. The relationship started to feel different, and she struggled with the feeling that the person she had fallen in love with was no longer quite the same person.

“The IVF journey was incredibly stressful and emotionally difficult for both of them. It was something they were navigating together, but the pressure of it all inevitably took its toll on the relationship.”

The source adds that Chrishell sometimes felt her support was being taken for granted, making the ending particularly painful.

“She remembers the person she first fell in love with and struggles to reconcile that with how things ended.”

Chrishell and G first met at a Halloween party in 2021, when the musician was performing with singer Tones and I.

At the time, Chrishell was still fresh from her split from Selling Sunset boss Jason Oppenheim, after the pair ended their relationship because they disagreed over having a family.

But G, who uses they/them pronouns, soon turned her world upside down.

The pair went public in 2022, after Chrishell appeared in G’s music video, and fans watched their romance blossom from an unlikely new relationship into a whirlwind marriage.

They tied the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony in May 2023, later renewing their vows in Australia and celebrating with a medieval-themed ceremony at a castle in 2025.

For Chrishell, who had already endured the very public collapse of her marriage to actor Justin Hartley, it seemed she had finally found her person.

Her heartbreak played out on Selling Sunset, the hit that follows a glamorous group of Los Angeles estate agents selling multi-million-pound homes to the super-rich.

Even viewers who could never dream of affording a sprawling mansion in the Hollywood Hills became invested in Chrishell’s journey, which saw her go from the show’s wide-eyed newcomer to its emotional centre.

When she announced her departure last year after nine series, she told Bustle that the show was no longer good for her mental health.

“I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially,” she said. “I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health.”

But while she was ready to leave the drama of reality television behind, except for her stint on the US Traitors, she appeared to have found something much more lasting in her relationship with G.

The couple had been open about their hopes of having a child together, with their IVF journey becoming an increasingly emotional part of their relationship.

Our source says the journey was incredibly stressful for both, adding that the pressure inevitably contributed to the growing distance between them.

“They both wanted to build a family, but the process brought a lot of emotional strain, and from Chrishell’s perspective, it became another thing they were struggling to navigate as a couple.

“She’s still trying to piece together what happened and when things changed, because she genuinely believed they were on the same page about their future.”

In her tearful announcement, Chrishell made clear that her feelings for G have not simply disappeared.

“It’s not hard for me [to speak with love and respect], because I’m in love with this person,” she told fans.

She also admitted she did not have all the answers, adding: “I know that will happen. And I’m going to heal and everything is going to be fine.”

G shared their own statement, saying they would always love Chrishell and cherish their memories together.

“My head and heart are feeling very heavy right now and I’m not able to talk,” they wrote, asking fans to respect their privacy.

And despite the pain, our source insists Chrishell’s love for G remains.

“She still loves G and always will.”
