CELEBRITY Big Brother star Chris Hughes has cleared the air over his departure from his ITV Racing job.
The former star, 32, landed his dream job presenting on Racing in 2019, but it all amid rumours he’d quit over a pay row.

But now Chris has said he was during a period of cost-cutting and even offered to work for free in order to continue presenting on , his favourite sport.
Chris revealed the reason to racing writer, Neil Watson, on X after the latter had reposted ITV Racing announcing two new presenters.
In his repost, Watson praised Chris saying, “he quite rightly wanted a bit more in wages” from ITV Racing “because he was actually very good at what he did and he knew his racing too,” and the network should have kept him on.
But Chris clarified in a reply to Watson that budget cuts led to him leaving ITV Racing.
“Just FYI, press reports were not true around this. I never once asked for more money, I was simply told they were cost cutting across sport, Euros were coming up etc, and I was one of them that was removed to cost cut,” Chris explained.
“I even offered to work for free at one of the festivals.”
In a later post to Watson, Chris revealed he’d “never spoken” about his departure before.
But work has not been in short supply for Chris who last year competed on Celebrity Big Brother and came in fifth place.
He has also landed multiple and was part of the for the Winter Olympic Games in Cortina.
It was during his run in the Big Brother house where he met his girlfriend JoJo Siwa.
