Chloe Sims Opens Up About Her Decade-Long ‘Toxic’ Relationship and Shares the News of Its End

CHLOE Sims has revealed that she was in an on-and-off ‘toxic’ romance for over a decade.

The described her ex as “manipulative” and confirmed she only ended the ongoing situation over the last two years.

While Chloe has had highly-publicised relationships with and Pete Wicks over the last decade, she has never publicly spoken about the other man in her life.

The TV star, who is now 44, says she met her ex aged 26 and suffered a toxic back and forth which lasted “into my forties”.

Appearing on Paul C. Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, the dating guru asked whether she would describe the romance as “toxic”, to which Chloe agreed with.

She recalled: “I met that guy, which was really good for the first few months, until it wasn’t.

“Then things went downhill. I really just didn’t need to meet him, I feel like things would’ve been so much better if I hadn’t have but I did.

“I think that whole first part of my life, I wasn’t equipped for that.”

Admitting she couldn’t “say too much” about her ex-partner, who she didn’t name, Chloe said their union had a lasting impact on her mental health.

“It was pretty messy. It just, basically, I was really doing well, like a steam train I was powering through and he derailed me.

“I don’t think I recovered really until about a year or two years ago, that’s how much it damaged me mentally.”

Explaining it impacted relationships she had over that time, Chloe said: “He stayed in and out, in and out, in and out, and I felt like I couldn’t really commit to any other relationships because he was always – he’d always come back.

“Eventually, I just woke up and snapped out of it. But I had hit my forties by then.”

When asked by Paul whether she felt “manipulated” in the relationship, Chloe agreed.

She added that the pair would occasionally go over a year without seeing one another, before coming back together again.

She shares Maddie, who turns 21 this month, with ex-boyfriend Matthew Green, whom she was with for seven years.

Chloe then rose to fame in 2011, joining Towie during the show’s second season.

She was introduced to the show alongside cousin Joey Essex and his sister Frankie, with Chloe’s sisters later joining the show.
